U Street Corridor
The U Street Corridor, also known as the Cardozo/Shaw or Cardozo Neighborhood, is a business and residential district in Northwest Washington, D.C., the bulk of which is also part of the Greater U Street Historic District. It is located in a nine-block area of U Street NW from 9th to 18th Streets NW, and was the city's black entertainment centre from the 1920s through the 1960s, called "Black Broadway" as well as "the heart of black culture in Washington, D.C." Since 2013, thousands upon thousands of new residents have moved into large new luxury apartment buildings.
